Staff Applications for Animaga Sydney 2026 Are Now Closed

The Access Department ensure that our key private locations are for the right people only. This team looks after and maintains our Volunteer and Staff headquarters as well the corresponding resting areas. While a passive job, it is still an important job to stay vigilant. Each area requires two staff members to oversee entry and exit ways for volunteers and staff. If you are diligent and want to look out for fellow staff and volunteers, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure volunteer and staff headquarters are being accessed by the appropriate people
• Ensure volunteer and staff resting areas are being accessed by the appropriate people.
• Maintain cleanliness in the designated areas.
• Provide guidance to attendees, volunteers or staff to relocate to the appropriate areas.
• Liaise with the volunteer, events and security departments for breach incidents.
Bring colour, creativity, and fun to life in the Animaga Drawing Activities Area! This team manages hands-on art spaces such as the DIY Badge Station, Origami Workshop, and Paper Crafting Corner: encouraging fans to express their imagination through interactive activities.
Responsibilities:
• Help set up and manage the Drawing and Craft areas throughout the event.
• Guide attendees of all ages through engaging art and craft sessions.
• Refill materials, keep workspaces tidy, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Join the Exhibitor & Artist Relations Department and be part of the team that supports the heart of Animaga’s marketplace: where creativity meets community. You’ll work directly with artists and exhibitors to ensure a smooth and enjoyable event experience from setup to pack-down.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with exhibitor and artist check-in during bump-in and bump-out.
• Handle general enquiries and provide onsite support throughout the weekend.
• Maintain positive relationships with artists and traders while upholding event policies.
• Monitor booths to ensure all products comply with Animaga’s rules, including the prohibition of plagiarized, bootleg or AI-generated merchandise.
• Act as a liaison between the exhibition team, floor managers, and event operations.
Be part of the team that ensures every guest’s experience runs smoothly. The Guest Logistics Department oversees the setup and coordination of guest areas, signing sessions, merchandise displays, and signing token distribution. You’ll play a key role in helping promote our guests and their merchandise to attendees.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the setup and management of guest signing areas and merchandise tables.
• Handle the distribution of signing tokens each morning and assist with attendee queue management.
• Manage attendee flow and interactions during signing sessions to ensure efficiency and fairness.
• Coordinate with the multiple teams to maintain accurate guest schedules and movements.
• Provide friendly, professional assistance to guests and their handlers throughout the event.
Join the Guest Follower team and help take care of Animaga’s invited guests throughout their stay. This role combines hospitality and coordination: coordinating guest schedules, supporting them to feel comfortable, and helping to fulfill requests from the guest and their team.
Responsibilities:
• Assist guests with check-in, check-out, and transportation between venues.
• Escort guests to panels, signings, and scheduled appearances.
• Communicate effectively with interpreters, department heads, and Animaga staff.
• Ensure each guest’s comfort, safety, and schedule are well-maintained.
Bridge cultures and connect fans with their favourite stars as part of the Guest Interpreter team. This role requires fluent Japanese and English speakers to translate live on stage, at signing sessions, and during interviews to ensure clear and engaging communication between guests and audiences. If you feel you can capture the guests’ character and convey it to the audience via translation, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
• Provide live interpretation for stage programs, panels, and interviews.
• Support guests during meet-and-greet sessions and backstage interactions.
• Translate essential details for scheduling, stage coordination, and announcements.
• Maintain professionalism, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
Join the team that keeps attendees informed and brings home the magic of Animaga through official merchandise. The Info & Merchandise Department serves as a central hub for guidance, assistance, and sales of our trademark mascots Maka and Annya.
Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate event information and answer attendee enquiries.
• Assist with sales and customer service at the official merchandise booth.
• Restock items and maintain display organisation throughout the day.
• Ensure all merchandise transactions run smoothly and efficiently.
Step into the world of elegance and fashion at Animaga’s Lolita Activities Area. From themed photo booths to the beloved fashion show, this department celebrates Harajuku’s sweetest and most graceful subculture.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and setting up Lolita-themed events and displays.
• Support the coordination of the Lolita Fashion Show and related activities.
• Help attendees with the photo booth and ensure smooth event flow.
• Collaborate with community members to create an inviting, stylish atmosphere.
The MC Department works behind the scenes to keep the event’s energy flowing and ensure every announcement, performance, and segment runs seamlessly. This team supports the hosts on stage, keeping to schedule and making changes as needed. If you are enthusiastic and passionate about conveying the guests’ character to the audience and want to energise both guests and the audience, this is the position for you.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with stage staff to manage event schedules.
• Prepare cue sheets and ensure accurate communication between departments.
• Support live stage hosts with timing, transitions, and key information.
• Keep the audience engaged and informed through well-timed stage announcements.
Join the Media & Press Relations team and help manage Animaga’s relationship with accredited media. This department handles all media pass applications, onsite coordination, and communication with press, photographers.
Responsibilities:
• Review and process media pass applications.
• Coordinate onsite check-ins and provide information to approved media.
• Manage enquiries from photographers, videographers, and journalists.
• Ensure smooth coordination between the media team and Animaga departments.
Join the team that gives Animaga its voice! The PA Announcements Department handles all major public announcements across the event: from opening announcements and program highlights to sponsor messages and closing calls. If you have a clear voice and want to convey the excitement of Animaga, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver announcements for daily openings, closings, and key program updates via PA system.
• Provide accurate and timely information on scheduling, safety, and sponsor activities.
• Coordinate with stage, guest, and operations teams for consistent communication.
• Maintain professionalism and clarity in all live announcements.
Join the team that keeps Animaga’s digital world running! The Software & Web Development Department manages and maintains our online platforms, ensuring everything from the website to ticketing integrations operates smoothly. If you have experience in coding, web design, or backend systems, this is your chance to apply your technical skills to one of Australia’s most dynamic anime events.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain the Animaga website using WordPress, HTML, CSS, and related tools.
• Assist with system updates, plugin integrations, and page optimisation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve website or software issues before and during the event.
• Collaborate with design and marketing teams to ensure a seamless digital experience.
Help bring strategy, creativity, and fun to life in the Tabletop Activities Area! From casual board games to exciting TCG demos, this department is all about connecting people through play.
Responsibilities:
• Set up and maintain tabletop gaming areas throughout the weekend.
• Assist attendees in finding and learning new games.
• Keep equipment and tables tidy, stocked, and ready for the next round.
• Support demonstrations, mini-tournaments, and scheduled sessions.
Power up the gaming experience at Animaga by joining the Video Game Department! This team brings together consoles, arcade setups, and rhythm games to create the ultimate gaming hub. You’ll help with setup, operation, and attendee engagement across the event weekend.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with video game area setup and pack-down.
• Manage console, arcade, and rhythm game stations during the event.
• Help attendees with gameplay instructions, equipment maintenance, and queue organisation.
• Work closely with the operations team to ensure all gaming equipment runs safely and efficiently.
The Volunteers Department is the backbone of Animaga’s success. This team manages coordination, scheduling, and communication for all volunteers, ensuring every helper feels confident, supported, and valued.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with volunteer check-in, orientation, and coordination.
• Manage rosters, breaks, and shift communications during the event.
• Provide guidance and support to volunteers across departments.
• Help maintain a positive and encouraging team culture throughout the weekend.
