Animaga Code of Conduct

Entry to events run by Animaga Entertainment PTY LTD (Animaga) is bound by the following code of conduct. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event without prior notice being given, and may also result in the banning or blacklisting from future Animaga events.

Animaga wishes to create a fun and safe event for people of all ages to enjoy, this code of conduct exists so that injuries can be prevented and all attendees can enjoy themselves.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • Entry to the event is done so at your own risk.
  • Event passes must be displayed at and visible at all times.
  • Attendees will be provided with wristbands corresponding to their purchased tickets, Animaga is not responsible for lost or stolen wristbands and will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
  • You are subjected to the rules and guidelines set out by Museums Victoria in regards to the Royal Exhibition Building.
  • Persons under the age of 12 years old must be attended with parent or guardian who is over the age of 18 years. Anyone found in breach of this will be removed from the venue.
  • Stealing of any sort is not tolerated at the event, if any person is found doing so the police will be contacted.
  • While every care is taken to ensure that everything runs according to schedule, at times this will not be possible. Tickets are non-refundable if individual events, screenings or tournaments run outside of schedule or are cancelled.
  • Animaga, its board, management, staff, volunteers and membership (including its associates) and the venue will not be liable for any loss, damage, theft or injury sustained entering or within the premises during the event.
  • No glass, weapons, fireworks, illicit drugs or alcohol will be allowed into the venue and surrounding area.
  • Animaga does NOT tolerate the use or abuse of illegal substances in or around the event.
    No smoking is permitted inside or in the general premise of the Event.
  • Animals/pets are not allowed into the venue or the event, with the exception of Registered Guide Dogs.
  • Unauthorised alteration, removal, tampering, or bypassing of barriers and crowd control structures will not be tolerated. Persons found doing so will be removed from the venue.
  • Pass holders consent to filming and sound recording as members of the crowd and/or audience. Individual photography/filming may not be undertaken without the permission of the subject. See “Filming and Photograph” below.
  • Animaga reserves the right to refuse entry to you and/or remove you from the event if you are acting in a dangerous manner or in a manner that may cause harm to yourself, other attendees, Animaga personnel, or venue personnel.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Weapons of any kind.
  • Drones
  • Illegal substances
  • Lasers, or a similar item
  • Flammable Liquids or gases
  • Open flame use
  • Motorised Vehicles (for example kids’ battery operated vehicles)
  • Any other items prohibited by law

FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Photographs and video footage of attendees at the event are generally allowed in all public areas of the Event. Specific rules and restrictions regarding video, audio, and photography apply to certain areas of the event.
  • You are to comply with all directions or requests from Animaga regarding restrictions at any event or in any area at the event.
  • When photographing or recording video footage of individuals or costumes, you have to ask before taking/recording. The Individual reserves the right to refuse being photographed or recorded.
  • Photographs and recordings taken at the event, of its events, staff or attendees cannot be used for the purposes of sale or general publication for commercial gain unless you have written permission from Animaga.
  • Any published images and/or videos, you identify the image or video as being taken at an Animaga event.
  • Animaga reserves the right to decide whether an individual’s use of photography or video technology is inappropriate.
  • If Animaga determines that you are inappropriately using photography or video technology, Animaga may eject you from the event.
  • By attending the event, You consent to be filmed or photographed by the Animaga Board, Management, Staff, Volunteers or their nominees during the event without compensation.
  • By attending the event, You grant an irrevocable, non-exclusive and perpetual right to Animaga to reproduce, display, distribute, perform, create derivative works from and otherwise use any images or footage of you.

SAFETY

You agree that any violation of this Code of Conduct which involves activities prohibited by law will result in the notification of the proper authorities, removal from the Convention without refund and may result in You being denied entry to future Animaga events.

  • No dangerous activities will be tolerated including but not limited to:
    • Aggressive actions towards Staff, Traders, Volunteers or Attendees
    • Fighting
    • Possession of weapons
    • Offensive Behaviour
    • Indecent Exposure
    • Other actions that could result in risk or harm to any persons or properties
  • All occupational health and safety guidelines must be followed, including but not limited to:
    • All cables must be secured across pedestrian walkways.
    • All builds must be a minimum of 1m from any permanent wall and walkways of a minimum of 3 metres maintained.
    • All instructions from the event OHS officer must be followed.
    • No objects may at any time be thrown or tossed.

Animaga accepts no liability for any injuries, damages or loss caused by these activities. In the case of an emergency evacuation or situation please follow official directives.

LIABILITY

Every due care has been taken to ensure the venue is safe.

  • Animaga, its board, management, staff, volunteers and members, as well as the venue(s), cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, theft or injury that occurs during the event.
  • Staff may provide assistance in the case of an emergency; this is done so at your own risk.

Staff are on hand for assistance in any situation, but any civil or medical emergency is to be handled directly by the relevant authorities.

SECURITY POLICY

  • Security present at any events is to ensure the safety attendees, staff, volunteers and the venue.
  • Security will be visibly present and make regular patrols.
  • Any offences will be handled by Security personnel and/or Police.
  • Decisions made by Security personnel are final and binding.

You agree that security personnel may eject you from the Convention for endangering the safety of the attendees, staff, volunteers, venue or yourself.

ANIMAGA HARASSMENT POLICY

Animaga has zero tolerance for any forms of harassment and bullying. Any person found in breach of this policy will be removed regardless if they are staff, traders, volunteers, members of the press or attendees.

Definitions of harassment include but is not limited to:

  • Verbal Abuse (Insults, Aggressive Yelling, etc…)
  • Physical Abuse (Punching, Kicking, Slapping, etc…)
  • Sexual Harassment (Unwanted Touching, Unwanted Sexual Advances, etc…) [1]
  • Deliberate Intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Deliberately damaging another person’s belongings (Intentionally Damaging Costumes, defacing bags, yanking on wigs, etc…)
  • Taking pictures/movies without an Attendee’s Consent [2]
  • Sustained Disruption of Events/Panels/Meetups
  • Showing overly sexualised imagery to others

If the Participant is asked to stop, they are expected to do so immediately.

If the harassment continues after a clear indication that it is unwelcome, report it to an Animaga Staff Member who will get a written statement from both parties, to ascertain what happened, and decide on whether to do next.

Potential responses if the complaint is upheld are:

  • Warning offenders
  • Removal from the convention
  • Banning them from future Animaga Events

If you or you see, anyone being harassed at Animaga. Contact one of the volunteers or staff to help resolve the situation. We will take statements from all parties and act accordingly.

 

[1] Due to cases at other conventions, Free Hugs and Glomping are banned due to people taking advantage of it.
[2] The intent of the photography/filming must be clearly stated before photography/recording starts.
