Animaga History & Guest
The Birth and Evolution of Animaga
When Manifest, the biggest Japanese anime convention in Meblourne, decided to end its run in December 2013, a void was left in Melbourne’s anime community.
Colin Chan (founder) a former trader at Manifest, decided to gather a dedicated team to fill this gap. Their mission was clear : to revive a Japanese anime convention in Melbourne and immerse the city in anime culture. Animaga, a name born from the fusion of Anime, Manga, and Game, aimed to be more than just an entertainment hub. It was designed as a supportive platform for traders and artists to facilitate sales and foster business expansion within the anime industry.
Starting an anime convention was not easy; Animaga faced a myriad of challenges. But each obstacle became a catalyst for innovation, empowering the team to adapt, overcome, and grow stronger. Animaga continued its journey with the aim of delivering an exceptional anime experience to fans.
Initiated in 2014, Animaga has been a magnetic draw for talent. Guests range from skilled cosplayers to renowned voice actors and celebrated artists. Far from being mere attendees, these individuals have enriched Animaga, contributing unique flavors and unforgettable moments to the event.
